I only found this image because I was driving in a convertible with the top down on a glorious fall day in Minnesota. I was at Jay Cook State Park, which is just south of Duluth, MN. I had spent time hiking along the St. Louis River and had also gone to the scenic overlook, and I was now taking the scenic drive up to Duluth. I had never been on this road before and it was a fantastic drive, especially in a car with the top down.
As I was rounding one of the sharp turns, I caught a scene out of the corner of my eye. It was slightly behind me and would have been blocked off by the roof on most cars. But what I saw was such a beautiful scene that I quickly stopped and made a quick u-turn to go back to that spot.
You can see from the image, that the scene was spectacular. It was vibrant in color. It was an absolutely perfect fall colors image. This is still the St. Louis River that is slowly flowing through the scene. I took a handful of images, and then happily got back into my car to head back up to Duluth. It was the last time I was ever on that road. The following spring there was a historic flood and parts of that road are still washed out, many years later. Hopefully, someday I'll be able to get back to this spot again. It is way too beautiful to only see one time.
I hope you enjoy this fall colors photo, and please feel free to share it!
