An Evening on Treasure Island
Treasure Island sits in the middle of the San Francisco Bay, and from its western shore the city unfolds in a way few vantage points can match: the full skyline, the Bay Bridge reaching out across the water, and a sky that seems to put on its own show every evening. On this particular night, the sunset was spectacular enough that it would have been worth the trip on its own.
But the real magic of the evening was in the pacing. I shot the sunset first, then broke for dinner at Mer Sea, a restaurant built out of three repurposed shipping containers right on the island, with the exact same view of the city I had been photographing. The food was outstanding, and watching the skyline shift from gold to blue through dinner, knowing I’d be back out with my camera once the lights came up in full, was its own kind of perfection. Sunset photos, dinner with a view, evening photos. It’s one of the most memorable nights I’ve had behind the camera, and this triptych is where that evening lives on.
A Skyline Built for Three Panels
The Bay Bridge’s long horizontal sweep practically asks to be split across panels: the bridge reaching in from one side, the skyline and its reflections anchoring the center, and the water and sky carrying the far end. As a triptych, this scene gets the kind of scale a single frame can’t offer, letting both the bridge’s full span and the stillness of the bay read clearly across a large wall.
Finished in High Gloss Metal
The interplay of violet sky, glowing skyline, and still water called for a finish that could hold both the subtlety and the shine. Metal brings out the depth in the evening sky and gives the city lights and their reflections real luminosity. Every panel arrives ready to hang, straight out of the box.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the triptych install, and does it need special hardware?
Each metal panel arrives with hanging hardware already attached, so no separate framing or drilling into the print itself is required. Panels hang independently, side by side, with a small reveal between them.
How do I make sure the panels line up?
Panels are labeled in the order they should hang. We recommend using a level and a measuring tape to keep an even reveal, about 1" to 1.25" depending on size, between each panel as you mount them.
What size should I order?
Since this piece spans multiple panels, it helps to map out the total width and height on your wall with painter’s tape before ordering. Use the size chart above to match the footprint to your space.
Can I get a custom size?
Yes. If none of the listed sizes fit your wall, [contact me](link to contact page) with your dimensions and I’ll quote a custom-fit triptych.
How long does production and shipping take?
Each triptych is made to order and typically ships within 8 business days.
Is my triptych returnable if I change my mind?
Each triptych is custom-produced and made to order, so all sales are final. If a panel arrives with a printing error or shipping damage, we’ll fix it and reprint at no cost to you.
Where was this taken?
