Step Into My Studio at Northrup King Building

Located in the heart of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District

A Creative Home in the Northrup King Building

There’s something magical about wandering the halls of the Northrup King Building. You never know what you’ll stumble upon, bold brushstrokes, glowing sculpture, the quiet stillness of a photograph that pulls you in. I still remember my first time stepping into this historic building and being blown away at the incredible amount of wonderful art that I saw just on the first floor!

Experience Artwork at Full Scale

In addition to seeing prints up close, you can experience large-format work — including 60-inch installations — in a real space. Many of these pieces have been featured in large public installations and corporate environments, and now you can preview them at true scale here in the studio.

Back in May 2021, a friend and fellow photographer tipped me off about a small open space on the 4th floor. It felt like a sign. I visited the studio, met the owner, and soon after, became part of the building's thriving artistic community. I spent two years in that space, soaking in the energy of this ever-changing creative hub.

That same friend, the one who first told me about the opening, later invited me to join his shared studio, located on the first floor. He was transitioning out, and I was lucky to be chosen to step in. At first, I was featured as an Artist of the Month, just a temporary guest in the space, but a few months later, I was offered a permanent place at the table.

Since then, the studio has moved to a central location in the building, becoming a true destination for art lovers wandering through the Northrup King Building. Today, I share this vibrant space with a talented group of artists who work in painting, sculpture, and photography, each of us bringing our own vision and story to the walls.

Come See Me at Art-A-Whirl 2026

Art-A-Whirl is the largest open studio tour in the country, and this May, I'll be opening my doors at Gallery Aurora for all three days.

This year is especially exciting. I've just moved into a new, front-and-center space right in the heart of the Northrup King Building, one of the most trafficked spots in the entire event. If you've ever wanted to see my Minneapolis work at full scale, in person, this is the moment.

📅 May 15–17, 2026 Friday 5–10pm · Saturday noon–8pm · Sunday noon–5pm

📍 Gallery Aurora — Studio #179 Northrup King Building, First Floor 1500 Jackson St NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413

What to expect: Walk in and you'll find large-format Minneapolis cityscape prints, many in the 40–60 inch range, installed and lit exactly as they'd look in a home or office. You can see the difference between fine art paper, canvas, and metal side by side. Ask me anything. There's no pressure, just great art and good conversation.

Whether you're a longtime collector, a first-time visitor to NKB, or just wandering in from the street, you're welcome here.

📬 Want a reminder before the event? Sign up for my email list and I'll send you the details as we get closer.

About Gallery Aurora – Studio #179

You’ll find Gallery Aurora on the first floor, near the center of the building. We’re open every Saturday from 12–4pm, and for Northrup King Building’s events throughout the year.

Our studio features the following artists:

📷 Photography by Brian Billadeau, Cynthia Fluery, John A. Olson, and myself. Each of us brings a different focus: Western and rodeo scenes, elegant European architecture, moody landscapes, and glowing cityscapes.

🎨 Paintings by Sanjukta Mitra and Risa Tritabaugh, full of energy, emotion, and unexpected color.

🗿 Sculptures by Tom Fletcher (whose head and moon sculptures are hard to forget), along with works from Gallery Equus and Dan Weinand.

Whether you’re looking to take home a statement piece or just want to get inspired, our space offers a little bit of everything, and every piece is available for purchase directly in the studio.

Come During Major Art Events

We love Saturdays; they’re casual, laid-back, and a great way for us to meet new art lovers. But if you want the full experience, don’t miss the biggest events of the year: 🎨 Art-A-Whirl® (May) – The largest open studio art crawl in the country, featuring over 70 buildings across Northeast Minneapolis. Tens of thousands of visitors, food trucks, live music, and hundreds of artists opening their doors.

🖼️ Art Attack (November) – A fall favorite, and one of the best times to discover bold new work before the holidays. The Northrup King Building truly comes alive. If you can't make it during those events or Saturday hours, just reach out — I'm always happy to schedule a private appointment.
