The Heartbeat of Minneapolis Music
I've stood on this corner of 1st Avenue and 7th Street more times than I can count, and it never loses its pull. There's a certain hour, after the doors open, when the line is still stretching down the block, when First Avenue stops being a building and starts being a feeling. That's the moment I was after here.
I shot this in black and white on purpose. Strip away the color and what's left is the architecture of the night itself: the hard glow of those block letters, the deep shadow under the awning, the silver constellation of stars climbing the walls. Every one of those stars marks an artist who left something behind on that stage, a wall of names that doubles as the city's musical memory.
This is the room where careers were born and where Purple Rain was filmed, but it's also just the spot, the place a couple thousand people show up to most nights of the week. As a triptych, the scene gets room to breathe across three separate panels instead of one continuous sheet: the crowd holding the line on one end, the marquee presiding over the center, the 7th St Entry tucked into the curve on the other.
Built for the Whole Wall
A single print asks a wall to make room for it. A triptych asks the wall to become part of the piece. Splitting this image across three aligned metal panels with a small reveal between each turns it into a gallery-style installation, at a scale a single sheet can't touch. It's a strong fit for a music room, a loft, a listening bar, or an office reception that wants Minneapolis nightlife as its opening statement.
Finished in High Gloss Metal
This image lives and dies on contrast, and metal was built for it. The finish gives the shadows real depth and makes the lit letters and the wall of stars glow as if they're lit from within. Every panel arrives ready to hang, straight out of the box.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the triptych install, and does it need special hardware?
Each metal panel arrives with hanging hardware already attached, so no separate framing or drilling into the print itself is required. Panels hang independently, side by side, with a small reveal between them.
How do I make sure the panels line up?
We recommend using a level and a measuring tape to keep an even reveal, about 1" to 1.25" depending on size, between each panel as you mount them.
What size should I order?
Since this piece spans multiple panels, it helps to map out the total width and height on your wall with painter's tape before ordering. Use the size chart above to match the footprint to your space.
Can I get a custom size?
Yes. If none of the listed sizes fit your wall, contact me with your dimensions, and I'll quote a custom-fit triptych.
How long does production and shipping take?
Each triptych is made to order and typically ships within 5 business days.
Is my triptych returnable if I change my mind?
Each triptych is custom-produced and made to order, so all sales are final. If a panel arrives with a printing error or shipping damage, we'll fix it and reprint at no cost to you.
