William Drew Photography at the Minneapolis Convention Center

Five large-scale canvas cityscapes now installed in one of Minneapolis’s most iconic venues.

October Glow over US Bank Stadium

Earlier this summer, a local art curation group accepted 5 of my prints to be put into a display at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Needless to say, I was on cloud nine when I found out that all five of myprints were accpted. Now, these were not just any prints, they needed them to be large. Each of the vie prints are 60" wide by 40" high. These prints are so big, they wouldn't fit into my car.

I delivered the prints at the end of July, and they were installed during the 2nd week of August. On Friday, August 22nd, I went to the Convention Center with a mission of finding where my prints were, and how they looked. The only thing I knew is they were putting prints on 3 different floors, and they were spread all across the center. Now, I wasn't the only artist accepted, there are a number of other local artists who were also accepted for this display. Once inside the main entrance, I immedeatly saw one of my prints at the far end of one of the many cavernous spaces they have at the convention center.

The Collection on Display

Even though I spotted that one right away, it took two hours to find all five prints. Finding each one made my heart grow three sizes. There's just so much joy produced by seeing something you created hanging on such a prestegious location in such a large format.

As I made my way to the first one, I came across another one of mine which was in the same room, but at the front of the room. After seeing those two, I then wandered around the rest of the first floor. There was a lot of wandering, and no more sightings of my prints.

The next stop was the 2nd floor, where shortly after getting off the elevator, I found another of my prints. I couldn't find any others though, so at this point I had found 3, and still had two more to find. So I ventured off the the Mezenine level where I didn't find any others. At that point I was stuck. I have visited all 3 levels, but only found 3 of my 5 prints. I figured I could go wander around the first floor again, as it is the largest floor and I could have just missed them. I wasn't having any luck while on my 2nd lap around the first floor, but I did notice a section of the 2nd floor that I might have missed. So, I went back to the 2nd floor, found that area I had missed, and that is where I found the two remaining prints.

My mission was complete, and I was a proud and happy artist.

All 5 of my prints are currently slated to be on display at the Minneapolis Convention Center for six months. That means they should be on display until the early part of February. If you are in the area, or taking in an event there, check them out. You'll be amazed at how incredible these prints look at such a large size.
