A Christmas to Remember at Walt Disney World

O Holy Night at Disney World - Disney Framed Art | William Drew

This photograph captures a scene that, unbeknownst to me at the time, would become a cherished memory. It was November 2019, and I had finally achieved a longtime goal: experiencing the magic of being on Main Street, USA practically all to myself.

The warm glow of the Christmas lights cast a whimsical spell over the park. Cinderella Castle, adorned in its traditional Christmas dreamlights, was a sight that stole my breath away. While a few lingering diners from Be Our Guest would occasionally stroll by, the atmosphere was one of peaceful tranquility.

Sharing this experience with just a couple of fellow photographers added to the unforgettable quality of the evening. Little did we know, this was the last hurrah for the beloved Cinderella Castle dreamlights. The following year, Walt Disney World would usher in a new era of Christmas festivities, replacing the twinkling lights with festive projections.

This photo, then, is a bittersweet treasure. A reminder of a bygone Christmas tradition, and a spark of nostalgia for a time when the very air shimmered with the promise of holiday enchantment.
