Disney Fireworks Photography

Disney Enchantment 10 - Disney Wall Art | William Drew Photography

There are many things that I love about being at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom theme park. I love going on the rides that I have already ridden hundreds of times. I love the food, I love the parades, the shows, and the smells. I love the atmosphere and the music. I even enjoy some people watching.

However, my favorite part of any day spent at the Magic Kingdom is watching and photographing the fireworks at the end of the day. I even spend way too much time thinking about where I want to watch the fireworks from. Do I want to be in front of the castle? Behind it? On Mainstreet? Somewhere away from the crowds?

It doesn't matter if it is Wishes, Happily Ever After, Enchantment, or any of the other shows they sprinkle in. I love watching and photographing them.

Now they the shows have the ever changing projections on Cinderella's Castle, I also get to choose between photographing the fireworks, or photographing the projections. If I am photographing the fireworks, I'll use longer exposures which will make the fireworks look amazing, but ruin any definition in the projections. If I photograph the castle, I'll use shorter exposures, which will capture all the detail in their projections, but have fireworks that are not as extravagant. Sometimes I'll even mix it up during the show.

For this photograph, I was shooting for the fireworks, so while the projections on Cinderella's Castle are colorful, there isn't much definition in them.

Either way, I hope you enjoy seeing my fireworks photos as much as I enjoy taking them.
