Figment, the whimsical purple dragon with a boundless imagination, is the beloved mascot of the Imagination! pavilion at EPCOT® at Walt Disney World Resort.
A figment of Dreamfinder's creativity (pun intended!), Figment embodies the spirit of imagination itself. This playful character first appeared in the Journey into Imagination ride, which debuted in 1983. Dreamfinder, a jolly inventor, serves as Figment's guide in the attraction, helping him channel his boundless curiosity and creativity.
The Birth of a Figment
Imagineer Tony Baxter dreamt up Figment's name after watching an episode of Magnum, P.I.! The playful name perfectly captures Figment's essence – a creature born from pure imagination. Figment's unique design, created by Grayson Shafer, combines whimsical elements: tiny wings, bright yellow eyes, a friendly snout, and of course, his signature purple color.
