If you've been around the Minneapolis arts scene for a while, you might remember First Thursday. Once a month, the Northrup King Building would open its doors in the evening and fill — shoulder to shoulder — with interior designers, corporate art buyers, collectors, and curious neighbors walking the halls and connecting with the artists who call this place home. 

A Return Worth Showing Up For 

First Thursday is returning on May 7th from 4 to 8 PM, and this one is artist-driven — organized by the people who work in this building, not a sponsored event on the official calendar. That grassroots energy feels fitting for a place like Northrup King, where the creative community has always been the real draw. 

Come walk the halls, meet the makers, see the work up close, and remember why this building matters to the Minneapolis arts community. 

Stop By Studio 179 — Gallery Aurora 

I'll have Studio 179 open for the full event, and I'm excited to welcome visitors into a freshly reimagined space. If you haven't been by recently, this is your first look at my new studio setup at Gallery Aurora — a space I've been putting real thought and intention into over the past several months. 

Come see the work on the walls, say hello, and get a feel for what the studio has become.

Just the Beginning — Art-A-Whirl Is Two Weeks Away 

Think of May 7th as your warm-up. Art-A-Whirl — the largest open studio tour in the country — returns to the Northrup King Building and the broader Northeast Minneapolis arts district on May 15–17. If First Thursday rekindles your love for this building, mark those dates now. It's going to be a great one. 

Whether you're a longtime friend of the building or have never made it through these doors, Thursday evening is a perfect reason to visit. Come for the art. Stay for the community.
