Let's face it, folks. Summer at Disney World is basically a competition between "who sweats the most?" and "who can snag the best Dole Whip?" But this past July (2023), I braved the heat (and emerged victorious, thanks to a strategic application of bottled water as a makeshift AC unit) for a dream I'd held for over a decade: the legendary 4th of July fireworks!

Now, I'm a Magic Kingdom devotee, but even I knew the 4th itself would be a human avalanche. So, I opted for July 3rd, figuring it'd be slightly less crowded (jury's still out on that one). Early morning arrival secured a handful of rides, followed by a tactical retreat to the cool confines of my hotel room.

Fast forward to a few hours before the fireworks begin, and I'm back in the park. People were already staking out firework-watching real estate, so I claimed my spot and joined the friendly pre-show chatter. 

Then, the moment we'd all been waiting for: SHOWTIME! And guess what? Cinderella Castle went...green. Now, green isn't exactly the first color that screams "American Independence." Confusion mixed with awe as the castle glowed a spectacular shade of lime. Maybe it was a tribute to a particularly feisty Kermit the Frog? Who knows! But one thing's for sure: it looked incredible.

The fireworks themselves were, as promised, phenomenal. A dazzling display of pyrotechnics and patriotism that had everyone ooh-ing and ahh-ing.

So, the moral of the story? Yes, summer Disney is a sweaty, crowded beast. But these fireworks? Pure, magical, star-spangled brilliance. Just be sure to pack the hydration and maybe a teensy fan. The show is absolutely worth it.
