Bond Falls is a spectacular waterfall located in Upper Michigan. My parents are from Upper Michigan, so I grew up spending a lot of time in that beautiful part of the world. I don't recall many trips to these falls as a kid, but about 15 years ago it became a must-see on every trip I've made since.
While we used to head from Minneapolis to Upper Michigan multiple times a year, as we got older it became more of a summer trip, so I'd always see Bond Falls in the summertime. As I started taking my photography more seriously, I began thinking about making a fall trip up there to see the falls in their colorful autumn wardrobe.
I finally made that trip in the fall of 2016. It's a 5-hour drive one way, so heading up this way makes for a 10-hour day of driving there and back. The falls were beautiful as always, with all the trees in their orange, yellow, and red leaves. I took many photos from many different locations around the falls, and this one is one of my favorites from that day.
This piece is a great fit for anyone who loves waterfalls, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, or fall color photography.
Looks Best On
This one works well on Canvas Gallery Wrap, which brings out the warmth of the fall colors with a soft, painterly texture. For a punchier, more modern look, a High Gloss Metal print is a great alternative. Acrylic and Fine Art Paper are also available if you prefer those finishes.
