Some photographs find you before you realize what you're looking at. This is one of them.
I first photographed Aster Café years ago, drawn in by the warmth of the sign, the glow spilling through those red-trimmed windows, the quiet romance of Adirondack chairs on a brick patio after dark. That image became one of my most personal and most connected. People reached out to tell me it was the backdrop of their first date, their anniversary dinner, a night they still carry with them. They didn't buy a print of a restaurant. They bought a piece of their own story.
So when I moved into my new apartment just a short walk from this part of Main Street, there was never a question about what my first photograph would be. On my first night in a new chapter, I walked down the street and made this image.
Where my earlier image was quiet and timeless in black and white, this one holds something different: the amber warmth of the sign, the deep red of the doors, the brick lit from above. It is the same café, but it has a completely different feel.
When I sat down to edit the photograph, I noticed something I hadn't seen while I was standing there on the patio. In the window on the far left side of the frame, faint but unmistakable, is the reflection of the Minneapolis skyline. The city, watching over its own story. I didn't plan it. I couldn't have. But there it was, and in that moment, I knew this image was exactly what it was supposed to be.

How do I know what size is right for my wall?
The best way is to see it in your actual space before you order. My website includes an Augmented Reality tool that lets you place any print on your wall using your phone or tablet, true to scale, in your room, with your lighting. It takes about thirty seconds and removes all the guesswork.
A helpful general rule: a print placed above furniture looks best when it covers roughly 70% of the width of the piece beneath it. So above a 60" sofa, you'd be looking for a print in the 40–42" range as a starting point.
What's the difference between the print formats?
Each format has its own character. Fine art paper has a classic matte finish and is ideal if you plan to frame it or prefer a traditional feel. Canvas gallery wraps have warmth and texture, arrive ready to hang, and suit spaces that lean toward a more organic or collected aesthetic. Metal prints offer vivid depth and a modern edge — the colors in this image, especially the amber sign and the brick, come alive on aluminum. Acrylic face-mounting adds a luminous, almost glowing quality that makes the night lighting feel immersive. Which format would you recommend for this image?
Because this image lives in color, warm amber, deep red, lit brick, metal and acrylic both do something special with it. The night light and sign glow translate beautifully to those surfaces. How long will it take to receive my print?
All prints are made to order. Production typically takes up to 5 business days, followed by 2–3 days for shipping. You can generally expect your print to arrive within 7–8 business days of placing your order.
What is your return policy?
Because every print is made specifically for you, all sales are final. However, if your print arrives damaged, I will replace it, no questions asked. Please photograph the damage and the packaging upon receipt and reach out directly so I can make it right as quickly as possible.
