I spent a long time along the banks of Nicollet Island that night, searching for an opening in the trees while the riverbank got steeper, muddier, and closer to the water. Most photographers give up and walk back. I sat down in the mud, braced my legs against the trees, and extended my tripod over the slope to find the frame.
